Snapchat denies that 'crying filter' depicts Amber Heard at court

While Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial occupies several social media platforms such as Facebook as well as viewing apps such as Youtube, it has also possibly taken up a space in Snapchat and Tik Tok with viral 'crying filter'. The past few weeks saw Tik Tok and Snaochat filled with a filter that makes those it is applied on, look like they are crying.

This freakishly realistic filter has since then been called the "Amber Heard crying filter", after several memes and content online has taken to making fun of Amber Heard breaking down during her time on the stand as she gave her testimony on the violence and domestic abuse she reportedly suffered at the hands of ex-husband and Hollywood veteran Johnny Depp.
On account of the sensitivity of the information, Snapchat was quick to release a statement denying it had anything to do with the trial. App spokesperson reportedly told TMZ that the filter had been in development six months prior and that it had been planned to accompany the smiling filter.
With that cleared up, Tik Tokers can now return to using the filter to only complain about the soaring inflation and skyrocketing price of things.
