Malaysia to officially open borders for tourists on April 1

Malaysia's Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob spoke at a press conference on Tuesday, declaring that the country will officially open its borders to tourists starting from 1 April 2022.

He noted, “Taking into account the Omicron variant which is still in our country and other countries, there are some mandatory steps for both Malaysians and travelers.” Following the leveling off of the most recent Omicron variant around the world, several other nations in the region such as the Philippines and Thailand have already opened their borders. 
Malaysia is currently in the endemic stage of Covid-19.A location is known to be in the endemic stage when the infection rates level out and the virus remains within the region without surges. 
Fully vaccinated travelers will need to present a negative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test two days before departure from their destinations as well as present a negative Rapid Test Kit-Antigen (RTK-Ag) test within 24 hours after arrival in Malaysia. 
As for those that cannot be vaccinated, the Prime Minister added, “For those who are not fully vaccinated, or unable to receive the vaccine due to health reasons, the health minister will detail further Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on this tomorrow".
