Healthcare company Abbott Laboratories of Illinois, United States has just announced Lingo, its new line of "consumer bio-wearables". The gear promises to collect actionable data on wellness markers such as glucose, ketone, lactate and alcohol levels.

Abbott Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert B. Ford was the keynote speaker of the CES and presented the “Human- Powered Health: Unlocking the Possibility of You" speech. He highlighted, "Technology gives us the power to digitize, decentralize and democratize healthcare, create a shared language between you and your doctor – and put more control of your health in your hands....We’re creating a future that will bring you and your loved ones care that's more personal and precise. It’s happening right now. And its potential is no less than incredible."
Abbott is already well-known for their product, the FreeStyle Libre, which can be attached to the upper arm to detect glucose levels of diabetics. The Lingo will be attached to the back of the arm on the body with a medical-grade adhesive and consist of 4 hair-sized filaments inserted under the skin. It will then send data to the phone where it can be translated to actions.
The announcement took place at the International Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas on 7 January 2022. The International convention began in 1967 and hosted about 45,000 in-person attendees and 1800 global media.
