The President of the Meedhoo Council, Hassan Shareef told online news source Vaguthu that the items were found approximately 3-4 feet underground.
The finding of the white and blue china have already been reported to the Heritage Authorities of Maldives, according to Shareef.
Though the precise reasoning is not determined, it is not uncommon to find China buried in the ground within homes of islands in Maldives. On 23 January 2019, five pieces of China were found buried underneath volleyball courts of F. Dharanboodhoo. The buried cups and plates were also without handles and in blue and white. Why they were buried is a mystery.
Most recent discoveries in Maldives include a 500 year old well inside Utheemu Ganduvaru (Utheemu Palace) and bones excavated and reburied at a water pipe construction site in Haa Alif Filladhoo.
