Microsoft translator offers Dhivehi translation services

As of 11 October 2021 Microsoft Translator will be offering automatic translation services to and from the Maldivian Dhivehi language and English.

This addition is a novel, first of its kind service as there has been no technology that does translation services for the Dhivehi language. While Google Translator offers translation services as well, Microsoft boasts that their translation comes to life via Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Several other languages were also added to the translation arsenal of the company. The Microsoft website read, "Today, we added 12 new languages and dialects to the Microsoft Translator service– Bashkir, Dhivehi, Georgian, Kyrgyz, Macedonian, Mongolian (Cyrillic), Mongolian (Traditional), Tatar, Tibetan, Turkmen, Uyghur, and Uzbek (Latin)—bringing the total number of languages available in Translator to 103".
This undertaking was headed by the company's integrative AI, the XYZ-Code initiative. This code combines "monolingual text (X), audio or visual sensory signals (Y), and multilingual (Z)". The translation services will be available through platforms such as Microsoft Office, Azure Cognitive Services Translator for Bing! and the Azure Cognitive Services Speech.
Microsoft's technical fellow and Azure AI chief technology officer, Xuedong Huang said, “One hundred languages is a good milestone for us to achieve our ambition for everyone to be able to communicate regardless of the language they speak".
