Maldives Unveils the Official Logo to Mark the "Golden Jubilee" of Tourism

The golden jubilee logo was unveiled by one of the pioneers of the tourism sector, and Chairman of Maldives Association for Tourism Industry (MATI): Mohamed Umar Manik, at a ceremony held virtually on 10th March 2021.

The ceremony was also attended by other pioneers of the industry, including current Health Minister Ahmed Naseem, Vice Chairman of MATI Hussein Afeef and the first Tourism Minister of Maldives, Ahmed Mujthaba.

The official logo of the golden jubilee of the tourism sector of Maldives was designed by renowned artists Abdullah Nashaath and Mohamed Azlif. The logo represents the natural beauty and culture and traditions of Maldives. Ministry of Tourism and other parties have decided to hold major events next year to mark the golden jubilee of tourism in the Maldives. This includes year-round activities for which the official logo will be used.

Speaking at the ceremony held to launch the logo, one of the founding fathers of tourism in the Maldives, Champa Hussein Afeef said that Maldivian tourism sector could make a full recovery from the impact of the covid-19 pandemic by December this year. 

Afeef said that this is possible once the biggest tourist markets of Maldives, European countries open their borders. Afeef further said that while the Maldives will mark its 50th anniversary since the inception of the tourism sector, it is important that we maintain the number 1 tourist destination status that we have retained during this period. He noted this is not an easy feat, but expressed hope this is possible with the dedication of those working in the sector.
