Standalone spinoff, The Witcher: Blood Origin is expected a season 2
16 Jan 2023

The Witcher: Blood Origin hit Netflix accounts all over the world this past holiday season.l without much promotions or hype across social media platforms. With Witcher already having released a spinoff film with Nightmare of the Wolf in 2021, Netfoix possible expected that the reception will be the same- good but not constantly talked about by fans. With the new series however, they couldn't be more wrong.
The four, hour-long episodes in this mini-series do not make concessions to try and over-explain the world-building and concepts: the assumption that the viewer is already either really familiar with the Witcher-verse or that they would Google and fill in gaps. This achieves two things: the stress of a clever introduction is gone, and the series gets right down to the brilliant fight sequences, poetic Nordic cinematography, excellent sound score, and funny one-liners.
If you are wondering if we see a glimpse of fan-favorite Geralt of Rivia, you may be disappointed. However, the series features the familiar lovable contribution of a bard. A Seanchai tells the story of the first Witcher to Joey Batey's Jaskier, who vows that he will sing the tale.
