26 Dec 2022

This past week, the Wizarding World released a second Game Play of the already infamous Hogwarts Legacy. The trailer showed about 34 minutes of gameplay along with commentary from developer Avalanche's Alan Tew, Mekenzey Toner and Andrew Corum.
The game is an open-world action RPG set in the 1800s at Hogwarts. The storyline of the game as per the official website note, "For the first time, experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it".
This past month, this upcoming game also made headlines for allowing players in the Deluxe Edition the option to torture and kill players with an added cost of USD 10. This was seen during the trailer's battle arena part where certain "spells" allowed the battle to be taken to new heights in a game reportedly allowed for players who are 16 years and older. In addition to the battle arena, players were also given a look into the Room of Requirement where you can bring changes to it as well as be able to fly over beyond Hogwarts grounds on broomstick or Hippogriff.
The game has now become infamous for seeing delays, with a new expected release set for April 4, 2023, instead of 10 February for both PC and on consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox. It was around 13 December when the game took to Twitter and explained, "Hogwarts Legacy will launch on April 4, 2023 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and on July 25, 2023 for Nintendo Switch. The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms"
Players and Wizarding World aficionados are waiting with bated breath for the game while there have been reports that Warner Bros. is looking to do a full clean slate fresh starts on all things Harry Potter. These reports noted the disappointing performance of Fantastic Beasts franchise as well as the issues surrounding the film's actors Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald) and Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone).
The Wizarding World is no stranger to games, with the immersive and free-to-play multiplayer game, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened released by Warners Bros. in 2021 as well as the first mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery released in 2018.
