Lensa AI leads the way with AI apps dominating App Store and Google Play

The beginning of this month saw social media feeds being fled with followers and friends alike posting artistic renditions of themselves and their pictures. Captions happily noted how the images were the take of Artificial Intelligence.
The app responsible for these changes to your feed, Lensa AI soared past youtube and Instagram and landed the top position in App Store and Google Play Store. Following the trend, several applications within the stores updated their descriptions to fit the mold of "AI image generator", but comes nowhere near the success of Lensa AI.
As per Sensor Tower, a firm that monitors the downloads and trends of the App Store, 8 out of the top 100 apps downloads within the U.S. have been AI apps this entire month from 1 December to 11 December.
By uploading around 10 to 20 profile pictures, users can generate different styles of themselves. The app generates its "magic avatars'' via the often controversial Stable Diffusion model that has received criticism for possibly using other artist's works as part of its image generation.
The application AI Art: AI Image Generator appears in second place behind Lensa AI, while Dawn - AI Avatars takes position three with the app's ability to manipulate images based on text prompts.
